How do planets form?
- Planet formation
- Dust and gas
- Accretion
Planets form from the dust and gas that surrounds a young star. Over time, the dust particles stick together and form larger objects called planetesimals. These planetesimals then collide and merge to form planets. This process is known as accretion.
